Fire on Gran Canaria
During the night, the fires have spread to the direction of Montana la Data. The fires are raging at San Bartelomeo de Tirajana, and in Santa Maria de Guia a fire has started.
The strong winds which affected the south yesterday have calmed down a little, so we are all hoping that the fire can now be gotten under controll.
I have received 2 pictures of some friends who live in Playa del Ingles. The sky in direction Mountains is covered in thick smoke.

10.00 Update:
- At the moment they are fighting to stop the fire spreading to Fataga.
10.30 Update:
- The situation in Tasarte is now under controll, and the 700 evacuated people are allowed to return home.
10.45 Update:
- For the area Fataga it is red alert. The Road leading towards Fataga is closed, and a Bus with 20 more Firefighters is on the way there.

Since the fire has started, 10.000 hectares of land have been devastatet and 5.200 People had to be evacuated.
11.00 Update:
- By El Sequero the fires are beeing controled by Helikopter. In the Area of de La Herradura a UMA vehicle has turned over and the driver has been badly insured.
11.30 Update:
- Over half of the Palmitos Park and 60% of the animals and plants have fallen victim to the flames.
12.00 Update:
- The News are still catastrophical for the Island. The fires are out of contol in the Areas Fataga and el Sequero
12.35 Update:
- The fire which destroyed Palmitos Park and the Hotel has once again sprung up. Fataga Fire is still out of control, and the Fires near Montana la Data are kreeping further towards the Village.

2.20pm Update:
- It seems like the fire in Montana la Data is under control and the people are allowed back into their homes.
- In Fatage the fire has damaged 12 houses up to now.
2.45pm Update:
- The 1.700 people of Mogan and surounding area are now able to return to their houses today. Many are unsure what is waiting for them on their return.
