Huge fire in the Mountains of Gran Canaria

The fires in the mountains of Gran Canaria have been raging for 2 days now.  The fire was started by a forest Guard who was employed by the Gouvernment to watch over the Forests.  His Contract was due to run out.

The dry conditions and the high Winds in the south are making the firefighting an impossible task.  Up to date there has bee an area of 3500 hectar affected, and there is no guessing how many Animals have lost their live in this Catastrophy.

This is the biggest Disaster Gran Canaria had to deal with to date.  Yesterday the places Mogan, Tejeda and San Nicolas were affected, and Tauro and Tasarte lie in the dangerzone.

They had to evacuate the places Ayacata, Presa del Mulato, Montana de Lina, Cruz de San Antonio and Presa de las Ninas yesterday.

The Gouvernment are hoping to get a grip on the fire today, but the strong winds are going to make it very difficult.

    After a very warm sticky night, we have woken to a temperature of 38,7° in the shade, a little wind and some whispy clouds.  Just been on the Roof terrace, and the Temperature there shows 48,9°. 

    1.45pm Update: Downstairs terrace 39,7° in the shade, upstairs terrace 43,2° in the shade

    5.45pm Update: 43.3° in the shade, 42.2° in my office

    9.30pm Update: 33.6° with a light wind.
