Fire on the Canary Island

As some of you may have noticed, there are very few News comming in abou the fire.  But how is the saying? “No News is Good News”

This of course does not mean that the danger is over.  There are still fires raging in the mountains, Santa Lucia and Fataga are still not declared safe.  It only means that there are no new Fires.  We are all hoping that the wind stays down so that the firefighters can get to grips with the fires at last.

A third of the forest of Gran Canaria has been destroyed by the fires, and no one knows how many Animals have lost their lives.

If there are any more News, i will of course keep you informed.

Here the latest Pictures:

On my German site you will find a video Joe has sent me.  This is what they saw last night from Play del Ingles.

10pm Update:

Well it seems quiet at the moment.  The danger is still not over for Fataga and Santa Lucia, but at least the Fires are no longer spreading.  With much hard work, and luck, we are hoping that the fires can be stopped soon and the island can get down to beeing  cleaned up and starting to repair what we can.

Some of the People who live in the mountains have lost their whole livelyhood.  The had very little to start with, but were proud of what they had built up for themselves over the years.  These people now are standing in front of the ruins.  They are the ones that are not insured.  Im hoping that the gouvernment will suport them as quickly as possible.

Unfortunatly there have bee a lot of Animal casualties due to Palmitos Park not beeing completely evacated.  Why this is so noone Knows.  A lot of the Wild running Dogs, Pets and Domestic Animals of the Mountain Villagers have fallen victims to the blaze too.

At the bottom of the Baranco near Palmitos Park, the Kamelownder were told to evict the area.  Unfortunatly the last news i have is that htey refused with the statement its all not so bad.  If the finaly left i do not know, and have found noone who can tell me.

If the ituation allowes it, them i will be driving into the mountians to see what i can do for the Animals that are there.  A lot will be scared, hungry and thirsty.  Ok a lot will now be saying i should be helping hte people, but I think there will be enough offers of help there.  The Animals will be forgotten.

I am now going to have a rest, as i have been posting and watching with very little sleep for the last 2 days and nights, and hope all stays calm.

Tomorrow i will update on what is happening.  If of course the situation should get worse again during the night, i will post.  Lets hope its not necessary.

Huge fire in the Mountains of Gran Canaria

The fires in the mountains of Gran Canaria have been raging for 2 days now.  The fire was started by a forest Guard who was employed by the Gouvernment to watch over the Forests.  His Contract was due to run out.

The dry conditions and the high Winds in the south are making the firefighting an impossible task.  Up to date there has bee an area of 3500 hectar affected, and there is no guessing how many Animals have lost their live in this Catastrophy.

This is the biggest Disaster Gran Canaria had to deal with to date.  Yesterday the places Mogan, Tejeda and San Nicolas were affected, and Tauro and Tasarte lie in the dangerzone.

They had to evacuate the places Ayacata, Presa del Mulato, Montana de Lina, Cruz de San Antonio and Presa de las Ninas yesterday.

The Gouvernment are hoping to get a grip on the fire today, but the strong winds are going to make it very difficult.

Here some Pictures of the Fires:

    Full Moon strikes again

Well i have always known this, but it is nice to see that im not wrong.  The Full Moon affects the way people act and react.  Some are quiet, some are tired, some sleepwalk, and some just get paranoid and agressive.

The later is the case in some of the German Gran Canaria Forums i visit.  It seems like the Full Moon has blinded the senses of some members, and they attack the readers and writers of the (as they call it) “Enemy Forum” verbaly, without beeing able to prove a simple allegation they made.  Maybe there is some fact in the fiction they tell, im sure there is, but it is always better to alter some details and dress them with a few little lies, so that the reader is pulled onto your side and feels sorry for you and becomes your supporter.

Ok so we all have our problems in one way ot the other, (life isnt a happy go lucky free for all) but i think any logical thinking person should consider what they write in public before posting it.  It is not advisable to publicize  all your feelings and frustrations of the moment, and then moan and complain about it when people know and comment about it.

The worse though is to call all members of the other Forum scum, wank..s, ar….es and threaten them, because you believe they are telling tails about you. Best to look at your surounding environment first and not letting your frustration make you write things which are not only insulting, but also untrue.

As i read in both Forum´s, im a little shocked to be titled as scum, traitor etc.  I have no contact to these people, they dont know me, I dont hate Gay´s, and i certainly dont verbally or phisically attack people i dont know. I dont talk behind their backs, it doesnt interest me if they have problems unless they ask me for help.

The worse is of course, that there will now be no peace.  They write something, get their suporters who will then poor oil into the flames, the opposite Forum reacts, and we have a full blown war of the Forums.

If it wasnt so absurd, it would be quite funny.  This seems to happen each time we have a Full Moon on the rise. ;-)
