Is it the age??

I dont know if it is the heat that is making me a little touchy, or if it is my age.  Maybe im over reacting, but at this moment in time im furious.

Since last Wednesday we have my Parents in Law visiting, and though we get on quite well, i find that the Father in Law is doing more and more things lately that drive me up the wall.  His little digs here and there i can still put up with, and i have a tendency to give as good as i get (maybe even dish out a little harder nowadays ), but today he has topped almost everything he has done in the past.

When they come here, we usualy pay for the flight, and we dont mind doing it.  Somehow the Father in Law thinks he has to tell everyone he is comming here to help us out, and that is the one thing that i dont like.  When he is here he has a go at doing a little here and a little there, but leaving more of a mess behind him than he has started with. (it would be easier and less stressy on me if he just sat in the sun, relaxing and sunbathing)

No sooner have i swept the path, he thinks he has to trimm the hedges, and leave all the offcuttings lying on the floor.  When i mention this to him, he just says he will tidy it up later.  Who cleans up after a day??? me of course.  Last year he trimmed the trees, and left all the cutting lying in the garden, what a mess i had. :-(   Then he came into the livingroom with his dirt covered shoes and messed up my carpet, i never got it clean again, and had to throw it out in the end.

When we have an conversation, he has to be the centre of the discussion, and if the discussion does not interrest him, or he can not understand it, he interrupts the speaker with a totally different story that he has to tell.  Yesterday i told him that i think he was beeing extreemly rude, and he could not understand why.  Well i think he has been doing this for far to long for him to ever change.

But today he brought my blood to the boil.

When he comes, he always asks if there is anything he can do or help with.  Mostly i prefere it when he just walks the dogs, and that is all i realy wish for him to do.  But as he wants to be busy, i tell him one or two things he could do, but in the end none of them get done realy.

Since he has arrived, he has been planning on tying up the vines and trimming them, and do a little weeding.  I have left them for him so he could be busy.  Has he done them??? NO instead, he has gone into the garden this afternoon and ripped out my favorite Plum tree.  It was going all rotten he said and that is why he thought it better to pull it up.  I could have cried.  This tree has the nice juicy green plums on it, and it was far from dead as it was flowering.  We had cleaned up the garden and trimmed all the hedges and trees before they came over so he would not feel that he had to do anything in there, but no he just could not leave it.

My Husband ended up weeding as it was driving him round the bend asking his dad to do it and him saying he will do it later.

Well it is nearly Wednesday again (only 5 more days) and they will be back in Germany.  I think we will be needing a break to get back down to a normal level again after this visit.
